Wow! What a whirlwind of a trip we had! and what FUN! =0) I was going to try and write out all we did and post a picture of everyone we saw... but there was way too much to get into one post. So here is a snapshot....

We were sad again to say goodbyes... but glad to be back home too! =0)

We are sitting in the Denver Airport at the moment (yay for free wireless!). We are so excited to be heading back to the "great northwest" =0) We are loving Colorado and know it is where God has called us to, at the moment, but there is nothing like "home" =0)

The reason for our trip: Nolan and Mary's wedding! =0) But we are also hoping to get to visit as many of you as we can! And an additional bonus will be meeting Alyson Elizabeth Pletcher!!! Born early this morning! We will try and post pics when we get back. =0)

Last days of summer... 1st days of school

Rob's last week of summer was spent in a lot of meetings, decorating his classroom, and planning out first few days of classes with students....

I also had the chance to go for a day to help Rob get his classroom ready! I helped put up posters and made a interactive "SUDOKU" board! =0)
In the busyness of the week we still managed to sneak in a few adventures and fun....

My brother is in town this week! It has been a lot of fun getting to revisit some places and explore new ones! Rob has had to work this week. =( lots of sitting and listening... he is so bored. our garden is growing!! yay! walmart man told me in june that i was too late and probably wouldn't see any fruit... but ive got flowers and one tiny tomato!!! =0) i love watching God's creation in motion and seeing our cucumber plant grow has been truly amazing! it sends out these little feelers and grabs onto whatever it can find... the window screen, other plants, the garden stake, etc... i love how God so uniquely designed each and every one of his creations! here's a couple pics of the cucumber plant stretching out to find something to hold on to.

Well its been a pretty crazy week here: Bible Studies, Math Training, Stephanie is visiting(yay), a nice little 6 mile hike and more....

The Alpine Tunnel

Day 2, Part 2...
After the falls we drove way up into the mountains, thru some pretty sketchy roads to the Alpine Tunnel. From1880 - 1910 there was a railroad from Southern Colorado to Denver for mining and lumber resources. Much of the track and mining towns are still left up high in the mountains. After 8 miles of rough, rocky road (thank goodness for 4 wheel drive in the RAV!) we found the trail head. At 11,000 ft. we hiked 3 miles up to 12,000 ft. to see the remains of the tunnel. Apparently this was one of the most dangerous stretches for the railroad due to the altitude and the curves of the track. It We saw snow, beavers, mountain streams, the closed up tunnel, and much much more. We ended the hike by hiking back another 3 miles to the car and then having a picnic (turkey burgers mmmm) on our single camping burners :)
